Jurassic Fibre to build full fibre broadband network in Sherborne
Jurassic Fibre has announced that it is extending its cutting-edge broadband network to the town of Sherborne in Dorset.
The first premises in the town are expected to become serviceable by the end of the year with full fibre connectivity of up to 1Gbps for residential users and up to 10Gbps for businesses.
Sherborne will be the first location in Dorset to go live, following two years of close cooperation between Jurassic Fibre and Dorset Council.
The announcement represents another key milestone for the Exeter-based internet service provider, which has already rolled-out its award-winning ultrafast broadband to towns and villages across Devon and Somerset.
Michael Maltby, CEO and Founder, Jurassic Fibre, says: “We’re delighted to announce that we are now extending our award-winning broadband network to Sherborne. The town represents the start of our expansion in to Dorset and will provide Sherborne and its surrounding communities with unrivalled connectivity. When it comes to broadband, Jurassic Fibre doesn’t just offer faster speeds; we provide superior performance, greater reliability and a genuine commitment to customer care. We look forward to announcing further locations over the coming months.”
Deputy Leader of Dorset Council, Peter Wharf, said: “It is one of our main priorities to improve broadband connections across Dorset and we have been working closely with suppliers, like Jurassic Fibre, to help achieve this.
“Access to fast reliable broadband has never been so important and I am delighted for those residents and businesses in Sherborne who will soon be able to benefit from the next generation of connectivity.”
Founded in 2018 by Sidmouth resident Michael Maltby, Jurassic Fibre is armed with a £250m investment from Fern Trading, advised by Octopus Investments, to build its own full fibre network across Devon, Somerset and Dorset. Over the coming years the company plans to extend its network to over 350,000 premises.
Jurassic Fibre has a goal to future-proof the broadband infrastructure in the South West for years to come, providing best-in-class connectivity to communities which have historically been overlooked by other providers.
Communities in and around Exeter and Exmouth were the first to be connected. Jurassic Fibre is now also providing internet to Honiton and Barnstaple; with Bridgwater, Wellington, Taunton and Yeovil currently being built.
Jurassic Fibre has a range of flexible plans for both business and home. Residential packages start at £25 per month for 30Mbps. Business packages start at £36 per month for 100Mbps, up to an enterprise-grade package providing 10Gbps. Residential customers benefit from Jurassic Fibre’s innovative 30-day rolling contracts.
